Walk the site before you start. Take photos of every existing crack, stain, and broken thing. Walk it again when you're done. The difference between those two sets of photos is your defense against any client who decides to "remember" things differently three weeks after you've been paid — or worse, before.

• Pre-Job Site Walkthrough: Document existing conditions before you touch anything. Cracks, water damage, whatever was already there — it's on record.
• Progress Photos: Timestamped as you go. Not because you're paranoid — because a job that takes two weeks needs a paper trail, not just a final photo.
• Completion Reports: Send the client a PDF with before-and-after photos before you invoice. It's harder to dispute a check when the evidence is sitting in their inbox.
• Client Signature: They sign off on completion from their phone. No back-and-forth, no "I didn't approve that."
• Reusable Templates: Build one form for roofing jobs. One for plumbing. One for excavation. Use them every time.
